Project Overview

The aim with "Project Mooncat" was to create a game that had a distinctly strange visual identity, while retaining enough charm and intuitive design to make it appealing as a cozy game for a casual audience. The vibe pitched was "Animal Crossing" meets "Death Stranding".

Challenge

Developing a tailored UI system for an unconventional circular viewport, while keeping it accessible and intuitive.

A retro gaming console on a grassy hill with wildflowers under a clear sky, blending technology and nature in a serene setting.

A close-up of a shimmering, iridescent surface with flowing textures and vibrant highlights against a dark background.
A retro computer monitor glowing atop a grassy hill with flowers under a clear blue sky, blending technology and nature in a serene scene.

Outcome

A cohesive UI system was developed around the game's viewport, that was intuitive without compromising the game's distinctive visual identity. The result was a playable proof of concept that balanced unusual aesthetic choices with the accessibility and clarity expected of a cozy game.
